Since 2014, I’ve helped shape the creative direction for Zoo Ball — the Fort Worth Zoo’s largest annual fundraising event and one of Fort Worth’s most high-profile cultural galas.
Each year introduces a new theme and visual world. Over time, my role has evolved from lead designer to creative director, guiding annual concepts in partnership with the Zoo Ball committee and internal team. The work requires establishing a cohesive vision that feels distinct year after year while maintaining the event’s reputation for excellence and anticipation.

The creative process begins with theme development and mood exploration. In collaboration with the committee, we define a visual direction that guides not only the invitation, but the broader event environment — from décor and signage to vendor interpretation.
At the center of each year’s creative is the invitation — an artifact designed to be felt, not just seen, where material, detail, and execution shape how the work is remembered.
Across the years, the work has ranged from immersive, layered storytelling in Festival of the Elephants, to a dimensional pop-up format for Zoo Ball at the Flamingo, to the refined restraint of Zoo Ball Submerged. Each approach is designed to feel intentional and aligned with the theme while elevating the guest experience from the first touchpoint.
Zoo Ball consistently generates significant visibility and fundraising support for the Fort Worth Zoo, drawing a high-profile guest list and national-level talent. The invitation and supporting creative help establish expectations for an event defined by quality and experience.
More broadly, this long-term partnership reflects sustained creative stewardship — shaping annual themes from concept through execution while aligning diverse stakeholders around a cohesive vision.
